 | Djahuti (54) 03/29/2006 | A good live album from a GREAT band.COC are one of the best kept secrets of heavy music.A band that is admired by and tours with the huge metal bands while retaining a relatively small but ferocious fanbase.Lead singer/guitarist Pepper Keenan is also in the other great unsung giant of heavy & hard, "DOWN", with Phil Anselmo of Pantera fame."Live Volume" was recorded in April of 2001.They did songs from their then new release "Americas Volume Dealer" as well as plenty of stuff from their earlier days.Although the album begins with 2 1/2 minutes of feedback (not a plus for me) as soon as they kick in to "Diablo Blvd." you know this band can deliver. They then segue into "Senior Limpio",another one of their really strong tunes. This is yet another band with a truly KILLER rythym section.Just as tight as Bonham/Jones,but more hardcore metal to the bone. Some of the songs sound better on the studio version (eg,King of the Rotten)-while some of the versions on this kick ass (Zippo), but over all this is a fairly good representation of their live show.I've seen em' every chance I got,and will continue to do so.Unlike a lot of more "sucessful" Metal acts, these guys MEAN IT.
