Wolfman Jack WAS the voice of music back in the good ole days of rock-n-rock and R&B. I listened to him my whole childhood. I listened to his show just to hear the Wolfman and while doing so was turned on to many artists and different sounds that I might not have ever heard. He made radio "Cool". In fact Wolfman was cool before being cool was cool [lol]. I have missed him ever since he passed away. They just don't make DJ's like him anymore. Wolfman was a part of early Rock's Fabric........Love the Wolfman......PS - Can someone explain why rappers are in the Rock and Roll hall of fame. Since when did rap become Rock-n-Roll??????

For sure. After Dick Clark, and possibly Murray the "K", Wolfman defined a radio disc jockey.

Bob Smith (aka Wolfman Jack) did more for rock and roll than any other non-performer. He could be heard all over America thanks to a radio station in Mexico with an incredible antenna. He himself summed it up in his cameo in American Graffiti: "The Wolfman is everywhere!" Even though it was a small acting role, his voice is all over that movie. He also hosted The Midnight Special, a late night show featuring many current bands. He had a good sense of humor, being in commercials (I particularly remember one kid's item Superstar 3000, a toy guitar which sounded like a real electric guitar) and the like. His book, Have Mercy, came out in 1995, just months before his untimely death. If you ask me, he should have gotten this honor as soon he was eligible. But it's not too late to honor him and give him his due, for the sake of his family. So how about it, Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame?"Clap for the Wolfman, he gonna rate your record high!"

I love a lot of DJ's over the years here in Chicago - but that doesn't mean they should in the Hall.

NONE of the non-performers should have gotten in before Wolfman Jack. NONE!

REM gets in and this guy who did more for Rock & Roll then most of the none performers who are already in is no it yet. Some thing is wrong with this. They induct a rap "artist" and the Wolf Man is out in the cold. If you are a true fan of Rock do some research and see how important the Wolf Man was.

Obviously this would be for the non-performer category.
