Noah's Ark was found there or so they say. According to Bible, the entire life, after the world flood, started exactly there. Either way, Ararat became an significant cultural site for Turkish and Armenians which still fight over to whom it belongs. For those of you who doesn't know, Turkish and Armenians always hated each other pretty much like Israili and Lebanese do right now. World gone mad!

Located in eastern Turkey, near the borders of the Russia and Iran,Mt.Ararat stands 17,000 feet high. The local name is Agri Dagi, and the Armenians have a tradition that it was the resting place of Noahs Ark.It was long ago believed to be insurmountable, and populated by both mythical (Dragons,Snow Worms) and other dangerous beasts (poison snakes, bears, leopards etc.)The first man to scale it was a German Professor,Freidrich Parrot in 1829.It has since been scaled, and many have searched for evidence of the fabled Arc.Intriguing fragments of wood have been found, but radiocarbon dating shows them not to be old enough to have come from the time of the great flood.Perhaps they were left by Christian Missionaries who scaled it long before Parrot with no publicity.
