04/08/2006 | Although not much is left of this ancient sites original grandeur,it is still set among dramatic cliffs,gushing springs and rocky crags 2,000 feet above sea level.Originally sacred to the Earth Goddess "Ge" (Gaia),the ancient Greeks considered it to be the center of the World or "Omphalos" (meaning "navel").It is famous for it's Oracles,who were Virgin Priestesses known as Pythia.
