Great movie that I'm down-rating one star for being shown so often on television. Great music score.

an almost five so that is how many stars I will give it. based on a real life women and a family she came to be a nanny to. The von trap family of singers. Julie Andrews was ideal as Maria the nun who taught the children to sing.the father was a captain who needed a nanny after his wife had died.good songs. took place during a time when Hitler was trying to take over Europe and force people to go with his beliefs the father was about to be taken into Hitlers army and they had to find a way to leave.If you read about the real family you would find a lot of this movie is loosely based on their life. the movie took some liberties but still a great musical.

Out of all the musicals I've seen, I like the Sound of Music the best. I'm not really that big on musicals, but this one kept my interest pretty much the whole way through. I was young when I saw it the first time, so I got bored about half way through, but I can sit through it all now.

The songs are so catchy and cool! Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews make a great on-screen couple, too!
