When did this War get declared?

But do we really need to wage a war against reality? Imagination isn't a bad thing to have. Thinking outside the box is what leads to new innovations, better ways of doing things. Genius lies in the mind of people with great imagination. But if we're talking about seeing the world through rose-colored glasses, assuming things about human nature that are way too idealistic, then perhaps a healthy dose of reality may be needed. I hate to be a cynic, but people aren't very nice, and if you expect that everyone has the best intentions, you'll get burned by people with bad intentions. Realism and imagination go together hand in hand. Imagination and idealism provides the spark needed to move society forward and realism provides the proper venue to encourage the very innovation thats rooted in the imagination. Idealism gone wild leads to totalitarianism, as regimes that try to impose an "ideal" set of circumstances on a given society can never get their people to go with it, and turn to strong-arm tactics to do so. At the end of the day, it really comes to full square: the idealist who seeks to impose his own reality on society actually becomes the realist himself. Then what??
