Glasses should be worn when needed, not to look smart. UPDATE: See comment!

It's a smart choice to wear corrective lenses if you need them.
CanadaSucks 03/17/2007
. . .but take them off at just the right point during your presentation for emphasis!
Randyman 03/17/2007
Well, if you really need glasses and you don't wear them, that might make you look kind of dumb. Good point MPR.

The absolute best way to make people think you're smart is to announce that you write all of your RIA reviews, even ones on the Smurfs or Cocoa Puffs, while wearing a monocle and a tweed by the fireplace, with classical music playing and plenty of impressive tomes and busts of Shakespeare and Beethoven on the mantle.

I'm blind too...
kamylienne 03/16/2007
. . . I wear contacts/glasses because I can't see, regardless of my IQ.
irishgit 03/06/2007
Personally, I wear glasses because I'm blind, not smart. There's some god-awful dummies with corrective lenses though.

It has never made any sense to me at all. I guess people think that if you wear glasses then you must have been reading a whole bunch of important stuff and blew your eyes out. The funny thing is that we do not look at people who wear hearing aids and think that they must have been hearing a whole bunch of important stuff and blew their ears out. Some things just make no sense

Rated a 3 because I don't know if people assume that one is smart based on whether they wear glasses or not. Personally, I have never assumed this and I think it's fairly ridiculous to assume that my poor eyesight would make me even a tad bit smarter than the average person. I've been wearing glasses since I was about 6, I have never heard anyone imply my intelligence must be based on something other than my brain and the hardwork that I put into being smart.

I've been wearing glasses since I was 5 and it works!
jamestkirk 04/06/2006
I'm always suprised by the number of idiots who think this actually works. Very pretentious.
BlueOrchid 04/04/2006
Glasses are more of a necessity rather than a way to make people think you're smarter.
EschewObfuscat ion 04/04/2006
No, I agree with this one. Since I have been wearing glasses, I have significantly reduced the number of walls and doorways into which I have walked (at a brisk and stunning 3 and a half M.P.H.) and I hardly ever hear anyone ask (under their breath) "what is that guy's problem? " I have to agree with soulj, they don't make you look smarter, they make you look near-sighted.
souljunkie 04/03/2006
C'mon!! Hate to sound smartass but doesn't This simply mean you have vision impairment?! duh! Foolish idea derived from childish generalization.
CastleBee 04/03/2006
Im not real sure, but I think the attitude glasses fad has passed. However, I personally wouldn't touch the blasted things if I didn't have to. Once you actually have to wear them you'd be willing to forfeit any IQ points you might get for comfort.
Donovan 04/03/2006
You would not look too smart if you kept falling over things because you could not see.
Molfan 04/03/2006
these may work. but only certain kinds give that "smart look" haha!
