I know too many people who try this: it doesn't work. It's easy to call out a fraud.

If you want to look like a complete idiot then sure go ahead. People will respect you so much more and see you as a human being when you don't go around pretending to be smarter than you are, its called.....wait for it.......being yourself.

Usually this is a true maxim. . .but you can get bad advice from someone with experience as well. . .

We have one of these at work, he thinks he knows every thing about every thing and always has an opinion. Some see him as very smart but most of us know he knows very little about any thing and just spouts of the stuff he remembers which he usually gets from some one he knows.

This would have the opposite effect....you might run into someone who knows what you are trying to advise on then you will look mighty dumb.

that would be the knowitall. they are always so glad to smugly give advice on things they no nothing about. they just keep that arrogant i am so brilliant look on their face while yak on and on. I wonder if those people realize that they are not taken seriously.?
