No luck doing that here, everybody is too damned smart.Seriously, if you spent all your time with someone that you consider a dummy, chances are you would be considered one as well.

The first step to becoming a dummy is hanging around dummies to make yourself look smart.

And who among us hasn't said or done something dumb sometimes?

I really don't like the term "dummy", and you never know: maybe a so-called "dummy" can teach someone a thing or two.

This always works for me. Why do you think I go on RIA? (I can see the hate mail for that one now)

UPDATE: I was also a mental giant in my platoon. They called Sgt Rogers and I the "Masters of Useless Knowlege." 

It might work for the first few days (even weeks) but eventually you'll usually start acting like the group of people that you hang out with.

If you do this it backfire and you will always be the biggest dummy!

This isn't going to work. Water usually finds its own level.

As long as other dumb people are noticing you, you're OK.

This can be accomplished by hanging out with those "weird" relatives.

Gallagher had a great routine about this. Something like, "We need TV for smart people. Stupid people would watch TV for smart people, just to see what smart people was thinking about. Smart people watching TV for stupid people? That's just dumb. " Anyway, the way to appear smarter than you are is to surround yourself with people who are SMARTER than you. A rising tide lifts all boats.

Human nature being what it is,the bright person dumbs down.The twinkie gets not a whit smarter.Also,you learn nothing from a dummy.What can a dummy teach you?Trust me.I know about dummies.Takes one to know one.
