Lawman (1971) 4

This is a really good flick and you should check it out. Lancaster is a marshal who comes to a town to arrest a bunch of cowboys who rode into his town and killed an innocent man by accident. Lancaster is to bring them to justice. This is really towards the start of the hero, anti-hero genre in American Western movies.

Duvall plays a little guy, a scrub rancher, who is one of the group that Lancaster is intending to arrest.  Duvall's plight as a little guy plays large in the movie.
