Although I give this a 5, it is not my cup of tea. It is probably Duvall's best outing as he won the Oscar for his performance as a broken down, alcoholic country western singer who is brought back by a widow and her son, who shape him up and get him back on track with his career. This is good Hollywood stuff but not good GenghisTheHun stuff!

Duvall does a bang up job here and sings well, also.

A brilliant, Oscar-winning performance, probably Duvall's most understated yet most affecting emotionally, in a wonderful film that also won two Oscars for Best Writing and Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen, and was nominated for three others.
