I must recommend this flick about Duvall and Kevin Costner as hard bitten cowboys who are forced to do a little justice in the world and to right wrongs. It has a fabulous gun fight at the end that is quite fetching and realistic. It maybe a little looooooong for some tastes, I will admit. It stretches out for almost 2 1/2 hours.

one of my favorite western movies. it was may more realistic than most, as there were actually missed shots in the gun fights. as for duvall, i can't phrase it any better than the character of mose... "boss sure can cowboy, can't he?"

Although it has little competition in its genre, 'Open Range' trails only 'Unforgiven' as the best western release of the last several years. Kevin Costner has fallen out of favor with the movie watching public, (and mainly film critics) the last few years, but does some excellent work in this one. And Duvall does a western character as only he can...it's as if he beamed in directly from that time in history.
