We purchased this refrigerator in December 2003. After having had different refrigerators in our life (and none having any issues), we figured it was safe to spend less, especially since it had Whirplool backing it. It had a five year warranty. It was the style we wanted, had the ice maker, the space, etc. We did have two shelves in the door crack, apparently from the weight. I've never had that happen before, but wasn't a huge issue.Unfortunately, by May, 2009, the compressor went out. 5 months past warranty. The savings obviously wasn't worth it to us. I would not have imagined this happening in 5 years, when I have had much older refrigerators that have never had any problems. We won't be buying anything less than a well-known name brand. What's the point of you need to replace it every 5 years?

This thing works ok, but the ice maker crapped out after a little over a year. It costed me 150 bucks to replace, just for the cost of the ice maker. If I had called a repairman God knows what it would have cost. Typical " made with pride in u.s.a.". I wish the Japanese or Koreans were selling appliances here.
