11/14/2005 | I'll say this about this category: you can't rate the TYPE of gun and come up w/ a best/worst list. Each firearm serves a specific purpose, and it's that purpose that makes them unique. This rating system should be categorized into the types (pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc) and THEN we should vote on the manufacturer's models in each category.
I'm assuming this category excludes those "sniper rifles" in the other category, and we're talking more of a standard rifle, like ar AR-15. The AR is the most versatile gun, evidenced by the military's extensive use of it, or a very similar model (M-16). Ease of field stripping, easy change of parts, versatility, and ability for abuse in the field. Every person's "collection" or arsenal should include a rifle to be well-rounded.
I gave the rifle 5 stars for its versatility and even popularity. Especially if it's the AR-15. There's something about the "evil black gun" that can't be denied.
