11/14/2005 | I'll say this about this category: you can't rate the TYPE of gun and come up w/ a best/worst list. Each firearm serves a specific purpose, and it's that purpose that makes them unique. This rating system should be categorized into the types (pistol, rifle, shotgun, etc) and THEN we should vote on the manufacturer's models in each category.
A revolver is a specific type of pistol. Also really good for self defense or home protection. Many would say that it is more reliable than a semi-automatic. Limited number of rounds (6 or 7), compared to a semi (10, 12, even 16), but the reliability makes up for it (fewer moving parts). Some people have trouble operating the slide of a semi, due to the strong spring. It's a matter of personal choice and purpose.
I gave it 5 stars for reliability for self-defense.
