I wasn't aware that we won the first Iraq war. We left it unfinished.... It is still unfinished...

If you have air superiority and you rule the skies, than you win the war! By ruling the skies you can attack and bomb the enemy where ever and when ever you want, and your enemy won't even know what hit him! In modern combat, you can't win a war without airpower! The main reason that the USA won Iraq in 1991 and managed to capture Iraq in 2003 was because of it's airpower! If in WW2 people used to call artillary the god of war, than today the airplane is the god of war!

Great for taking out the targets infantry can't. Provides quick cover for infantry that are pinned down and can demoralize enemies.

Changed the face of warfare completly.

Early in its career, the Airplane had little effect on the war. In WW2, air power won or lost the war, even though strategic bombing was rather useless. Now, today, the American military realizes heavily on air power. In fact, the only reason for their quick victory in Desert Storm was their air power. It is vital in war.
