RCN Cable 1

Tech calls go to "screen readers" from the Philippines. They don't speak english, can't understand any sort of problems. They are just warm bodies answers phones after 20 minutes of hold time. What a shame. This feels like Dell....hold hold hold....when you get there, it's some fool with a brainless breathe on the other end reading from a screen with no answers. This shows how little respect RCN has for their customers. And ironically, this will clearly bring them down as a company. RCN should learn that their customers are all they have. They will fall flat on thier face without them. I want FIOS! But it's not in my neighborhood yet. Crap.

RCN Cable 2

For several years, I have been one of RCN's greatest advocates. Everything has been on time, on budget, and done to my satisfaction.

But now they have changed. After signing a two year agreement with provisions that saved me money, they changed the service agreement and now services that were once part of my bundle are being sold as "premium" for an additional cost. It is a catch-22. They say I was given those as a courtesy in the past, but no more. If I want to change my plan to off-set the cost of the "premium" services, then they say I change the contract terms, so I pay a big penalty. Apparently, they can change the terms of the contract without notice, but I cannot. I now feel betrayed and trapped. As soon as I find an adequate service to replace them, I will do so. I do not feel I can trust them anymore.

Terrible customer service. Many of their customer service people are in the Phillipines. RCN trys to distance themselves from their cusomers as much as they can. Bogus screen menu. Bad for businesses advertising on tv. Many of the ads get blurred or cut up. They are dishonest providers. They take no responsability for their errors.

There all around support sucks, They don't return support help emails. They close at 5pm unless you want to get their services. Then they always answer the phone. They constantly don't know where to direct you and when they do you are on hold forever. Another T-Moble like operation.

Cable modem is great, very reliable. HD-DVR TV service is very erratic, picture and/or sound dropouts every few minutes. Boston area.

RCN Cable 1

I've had RCN standard cable tv for years and the quality of the service was very good. However, over the past month I switched to the digital high def service after purchasing a high def tv and it has been a huge headache ever since. Over a 30 day period, there have probably been just a few days when I received all channels. Most days either some channels are completely missing (i.e., a frozen picture appears on screen) or the picture breaks apart every few seconds (pixelates). I've had the RCN folks over here 3 times to try to repair it, but there's always some other issue after they leave. It's also quite frustrating to reach them by phone to schedule an appointment since the wait is has never been less than 15 minutes when I've called, and has been over 60 minutes at times. They say you can use email as well, but I've tried that on at least 2 occasions and my email never received a response.
