 | earthbound (37) 05/09/2008 | Well, I never consciously taught my kids swear words, but I think that they have probably have absorbed quite an impressive vocabulary by osmosis, if you like, over the many mornings when we have been running late for school, and one of them can't find his/her backpack, etc... But you know, I would rather they learnt these things from me than through the internet....

 | Ridgewalker (48) 05/09/2008 | My son came home from school one day when he was around 8 years old and asked me what a G D M'f--ker was. I told him that's what you say when you want someone to punch you in the nose...

 | BlueOrchid (41) 05/14/2007 | I'd never do this because they'll eventually find out the words on their own whether we like it or not.

 | puppyloverkb (18) 05/14/2007 | True Story, my friends baby sister had been crying non stop for about an hour. My friend finally went up to her and yelled Shut Up Brook. For the next month, the only word Brook would say was Shu-Up. Needless to say my friends mother was not very pleased. Ok, obviously it is not great to teach little kids swear words, but like GeneXagent said, somehow they learn them anyway.

 | Donovan (129) 05/14/2007 | "Teaching a child a swear word," I don't think so, they will learn
enough bad things from society that we do not need to teach our
children how to lie, curse, steal, kill and so on. Of course we should
teach them not to do these things. I never had to have my parents sit
down with me and have a lesson on curse words. They taught me right
from wrong and I knew by they way people spoke if something was
intended as wrong. Then if I had questions I could ask my dad, the same
was true for my children.

 | Vudija (92) 05/12/2007 | Yes, what do you mean by, "teach"? I would certainly hope people don't go out of their way to purposely get a child to curse. An accident, is an accident though.

 | Molfan (57) 05/12/2007 | denpends on what you mean by teach. I would not teach a swear word on purpose, but little pictures have big ears and if you swear around them they will say some of those swears themselves.
