Taking someones writing as your own is bad. Whats worse is when the person they took it from was a bad writer to begin with.

This is something teachers have drilled into their students since elementary school; DO NOT TAKE SOMEONE ELSE'S IDEAS AS YOUR OWN! In college, this could cost you your own education...and perhaps, a career.

Not something that I have ever had to worry about, but I do remember my teacher catching someone to this for a psych. paper. The teacher was harsh, but the kid asked for it...

I remember in school when we were learning to do essays, term papers whatever we wrote about. we were taught how important it was to give credit when qouting another person or using their work in any way. that is what quotations were for or bibliographies.I would imagine it could get someone in trouble if they were writing in pubic and tried to take credit for someone elses work.
