John Ford was an Irish-American and this movie, about an American returning to Ireland, was his labor of love. His cast was Irish-Americans and real Irishmen, and he turned out a classic. John Wayne, Maureen O'Hara, Victor McLaglen, Barry Fitzgerald, Ward Bond and many lesser lights from Ford's stable graced this film.

A true classic and one of the Duke's best. The Duke and Maureen were never more beautiful in this and the scenic beauty of the Irish countryside only adds to the enjoyment. The cast is superb and many of the players are used over and over in John Ford's films.

I have only seen a few scenes of this movie. but is it nice to see John Wayne in a bit different role. he does a better acting job for this movie. maybe because i get to see him. a bit different than his cowboy or war movies. beautiful scenery.and Maureen O'Hara is good as usual.

My favorite spring movie with several great performances by other actors. This wasn't a Duke dominated film. Very entertaing and the on-scene cinematography was outstanding.

A defining moment in John's career. Proved that he was versatile.
