Big Jake is the story of a rough, tough Texas cowboy who, with his two sons and friend, Sam Sharpnose, goes into Mexico to ransom and rescue his grandson who has been kidnapped for ransom. Richard Boone is the leader of the gang of bandits who raided Big Jake's ranch and kidnapped the boy. The rescue attempt gets more complicated as they head for the climax in Escondero. There's some good old time lines in the flick. For instance: (Big Jake, his dog and Sam Sharpnose try to get a hotel room] Jake: Give us a room. Hotel desk clerk: The dog is all right, but, ah, we do not allow Indians.

My favorite of his many great titles. "You must figure I'm a real dangerous man." When you add the brilliant Richard Boone to the mix, it was just icing on the cake.
