I suppose anyone who believes this mourns for all those Indians who died in John Ford films.

I remember all the hoopla surrounding this piece of "literature" when it came out. Hilarious.

It doesn't cease to amuse me how worked up some folks get about this.

And on both the "believer" and "unbeliever" side (and you can take those terms to mean what you will)

Its a reasonably well written, but thoroughly facile novel, turned into a rather tedious movie.

The deceiving note on the front of the book contrasting with the claims made in the first page is nothing more than the clever attempt to cause controversy, that is, curiosity, that is MONEY.

Yes, it says fiction on the side of the book, the first page of the book proclaims that "All descriptions of artwork, architecture, documents, and secret rituals in theis novel are accurate." This is not only questionable, but add to that the authors insistence in interviews that, while the book is fiction, he believes it is all true. Basically what has followed are people using the book to make thier argument, but when it is brought into question they huff "But the book is fiction!" If it's fiction, which it is, stop presenting what is in it as fact.

Considering the movie was released as a blockbuster thriller rather than a documentary.....

If that's the case they need to move it in the book store. I looked around non-fiction for two hours and couldn't find the fool thing. Should I look in fiction next time?

It should be re-titled "The Book Of Lies".
