Best ballpark in America!!

Really nice park from what I've seen. If only they didn't have a Double A club play there...All right, a mostly Double A team...
tiggerandcogs 08/03/2006
PNC Park is ok but not at night; depending on where you are sitting you may have bugs (gnats?) falling from the rafters as PNC is on the river.
wideglide 06/16/2006
Fantastic ballpark! I took my 8 year old to his first MLB game, and my first at PNC today. It made me feel like I was eight again at Forbes Field! It is the best sporting venue I have ever been to, bar none. Very close and intimate, and the views were great, no matter where I walked. The bridge and skyline are awesome, great scoreboards (especially the "out of town" board, that even shows how many men are on base, and where at!), the see-through bullpens, and the rotunda. The food was varied, good choices, but varied pricing ($6.50 for nacho fries were robbery, but $5.75 for a very good gyro was great). All in all, a great baseball experience, and one that I will go back for much more often, now that I have experienced it.

Why didnt they make it in 1970,THIS PLACE IS HEAVEN

Simply gorgeous.

pjkdog 05/10/2005
Great crowd! Great old time feel! Great site lines. The people working there are pretty nice, and the food items are some of the best at any park. Go for the wings...really good.
hholt01 03/10/2005
best one in the world
Orville1339 02/11/2005
There is nothing like the view of the city of Pittsburgh across the river from PNC Park. The baseball played there could be alot better but their is no better ballpark that I've seen and I've been to many of them.
Feef 01/30/2005
PNC Park is the best baseball park I have ever been in. The detail and thought put into the stadium show, and the view of the beautiful city skyline tops it off. It is too bad the sad state of baseball does not allow championship baseball to be played by the home team. When the Yankees payroll is 5 times that of the Pirates what are you going to do?
Skizero 01/28/2005
a great place for baseball. i miss watching ballgames there. i do miss 3 rivers, however. i grew up on that place. People in Pittsburgh just gotta start going to those games.
Alexg681 01/27/2005
PNC is a very nice new stadium that the Pirates needed desperately because Three Rivers was a dump.
mono 01/22/2005
Other than the outlandish players salaries and jacked-up concession prices this stadium is the best in the big leagues. The food (choices), layout, friendly fans, and view make it a must-see for all.
Bubba Kincaide 01/04/2005
The best I've been in. Of course I was only ever in Three Rivers and The Vet. So, what do I know?
OneHungryMonst er 08/25/2004
Nice park.
aldocoffee 07/23/2004
I'll hold judgement on best ever until I get to PacBell (or whatever it's called now) someday, but PNC is better than any I've visited - and that's every one east of the Mississippi (plus Anaheim and Arlington), except for the new Citizens in Philly. (Who said Miller Park is best? You must be kidding.) Camden Yard's bleachers are great - especially for Yanks or Sox games, but inside there's no comparison. I usually sit behind home at PNC, but had chance to sit in Club seats last week... not an authentic dog & a beer atmosphere, but pretty darned sweet. Definitely cross the Clemente Bridge from dahntahn for the full experience. Having grown up with Mets/Yanks/Sox in New England, it's nice to finally live near a comfortable park with decent and reasonably priced food. Love Manny's BBQ area down third base. Nice variety of eats there. Most beer taps are the usual Bud and Coors Light, but look for the Penn Pilsner, it's worth it. And while the Pirates aren't going to win anything, they've actually been pretty fun to watch.

It kicked ass!

how can it be any good? it's in pittsburgh!
Aneudy25 06/10/2004
Beautiful Park! Nice Scenery! Good food! Clemente Bridge across the river, what more can you ask for?
pghjosh 06/06/2004
No question the best ballpark ever built. It's heaven.
Bucsmike 05/03/2004
Awesome, awesome, awesome....the skyline, the Clemente bridge, the monuments to Clemente, Stargell and Wagner and other design touches. Intimate, without a poor seat in the house. The best stadium in baseball.
Serena00 01/28/2004
Loved PNC during a weekend visit last fall. Beautiful cozy field; reasonable ticket prices & availability; excellent food; family friendy. Felt badly for Pirates fans with their team cutting payroll, though.
m1970 01/22/2004
I haven't been to the old classics, Wrigley Field and Fenway Park; but PNC Park is by far the finest baseball stadium that I have ever been to for a game. I have traveled to three games since PNC Park opened. Everything is great from the amenities inside and outside the stadium to the scenic views to the proximity of the facility to other attractions in the city. The only negative that I could find with PNC Park is that since opening it has been home to the equivalent of a AAA team trying to play a major league schedule.
joe_doe 11/07/2003
I think that PNC Park is one of the greatest parks ever built. If it wan't in Pittsburgh people would be going crazy over it
sims13 10/13/2003
THE PIRATES MAY NOT BE GOOD RIGHT NOW, BUT THIS PARK IS THE BEST..... NO BETTER
pabob 09/01/2003
Of the new parks that have been built since New Comiskey replaced Old Comiskey, PNC Park rates even with Camden Yards as the best of the new parks. It has a very intimate environment, and the view looking into the outfield is the best in the majors. It certainly is one of the crown jewels of stadiums in baseball.
KLPV 06/30/2003
Best MLB park. Intimant, best view, awesome skyline & bridge view, only two tiers of seats. Bleachers are great in left field too. I don't really count Fenway & Wrigley, I think those are national treasures. But of the new ones, this is the best. Some guy was whining about the broadcast booth compared to PacBell. It was made that way so the fans had closer seats. What do I care about the view the announcers get?
bucgiles 05/07/2003
Best park, easily
deadlypartner 01/09/2003
The historical monuments are excellent and great memories for bucco fans!! It's a awesome stadium. With first row seats on the first base line I got to see every detail. The landscaping in center field is very nice as well.
gopman79 01/05/2003
Of all new stadiums, this is truly the best. Right on the river, this is truly a great experience if you can experience it.
Pantsnat 08/02/2002
Best park of the new "retro" ones. I really can't complain that it is in 3rd place behind Wrigley and Fenway, the two coolest parks in the world. GO BUCS!
scorn66 03/29/2002
I am glad that I went to Wrigley Field last year so that I could really have something to compare this wonderful ballyard to! I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, but I am about a 5 minute walk from the "T" line. We usually go to Sunday day games. (Is there REALLY any better day or time to go to a ballgame?)After a few frothy Iron City's we walk to the "T" station. It is usually about a ten minute trip to the downtown area. Get off at Grant Street. And a block or two...THERE IT IS!!! You can actually hear batting practice and Vince Lascheid playing the organ from across the river. Believe me when I tell you, the anticipation only builds as you walk across the Clemente Bridge. And who is there to greet you? The great one himself,Roberto Clemente. (I swear he's staring straight into right field.) And Pops Stargell as well! If you are reading this, then you have most likely seen the inside of PNC Park on T.V. or in person. That goes without explaination. It is almost surreal in person. The crack of the bat sounds so RIGHT!!!! You are THIS CLOSE to the field no matter where you sit.(I recommend the bleachers. You feel like you are playing shortstop when you are sitting there.)And the skyline looks like a stage crew just built it that morning before the game. So for you out of towners.....Park at Station Square on the south side of town. Take the boat or tht "T" to the ballpark. Make sure you get there early so you can take a stroll around. Have a Primanti Brothers sandwich and a few Irons to wash it down. And watch my beloved buccos get their poor asses whipped. It will be well worth your time and money!
MeMyselfandyou rmom 10/31/2001
I went to a game this past season and I thought I died and gone to baseball heaven!!! It's just simply THE most beautiful ballpark I have ever seen! Definitly a MUST SEE Ballpark!
ellajedlicka21 10/18/2001
It's named after a bank. Corporate America at its best.
Oppy187 10/07/2001
This place looks pretty nice on T.V. It actually used all the good elements of the retro parks instead of using elements of older parks. Plus it doesn't use the generic brick facing to the park that every new "retro" park has used. They say the upper deck seats are supposed to be close to the field, well hopefully I can get there to see it one day.
kevi9896om 07/23/2001
The view, the closeness to the players, the small capacity --- not a complete hitters park, so it is still balanced baseball -- drawing 35,000/game --- perfect, just perfect.
toddytodd 07/17/2001
unbelievable backdrop with the rivers, bridges, boats, and skyline...no other place in the country can compare to this setting with the exception of Wrigley. not to mention the cool rotundas and dimesions of the field....A must see for true stadium enthusiasts!!!
xyzzyva 06/20/2001
Love seeing those bridges on SportsCenter!
Deftones4ever 05/27/2001
Best Field in the world! Just look at Blox's comments! Everyone is from someone who means something in the world of baseball. Good job on the research Blox!!!!!! Lets go bucs!!!

It's not surprising that this park has been getting so much national praise. It's really second to none in terms of personality and aesthetics. PNC impresses from the very beginning for those who park across the river, as the walk across the suspension bridge to the stadium provides a dramatic entrance to the gates. The combination of tan limestone masonry and dark blue steel is very pleasing to the eye -- a welcome change from the cliched red brick and green steel of most other parks built within the past 10 years. Not too retro and not too space-age, it just blends in nicely with the surrounding buildings. Inside, it is a sight to behold. The river flowing behind the outfield, the golden suspension bridges, and surprisingly varied skyscraper architecture add up to perhaps the most picture-perfect panorama of any MLB stadium. In addition to the picnic pavilions and open concourses expected in a modern park, there is an abundance of other unique standing areas from which one can view the game: a 4-level spiral rotunda in left field; a screened enclosure inside the right-field wall; and a picturesque riverside walkway. The seating is top-notch as well. Since there are only two decks and only one layer of suites (discreetly tucked under the upper deck), even the last rows of the upper deck feel right on top of the action. I highly recommend a trip here, folks. It's a jewel.

Milwaukee just tore this stadium down. Pittsburgh can have it. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ggrok, on 5/16/01, said: I am a Pittsburg Pirate fan, and I sure wish my city could have built something as dazzling as Miller Park. I went to Milwaukee on vacation and visited Miller Park and couldn't believe my eyes! I hate to admit it but PNC park isn't even in the same class, it's basically no better than Milwaukee's outdated County Stadium that was just torn down. Miller Park, on the other hand, will usher in the biggest revolution in stadium design that the baseball world has ever witnessed. What Camden Yards was to the 90's, Miller Park will be that and so much more to the new millennium. After having been to all 30 major league stadiums, I can safely say that Miller Park stands head and shoulders above all others - there's nothing else even close! It is truly the standard against which all future parks will be measured!
tunes0412 05/02/2001
I have visited PNC and it is a nice park. However, it still ahve the bad weather to deal with and the environment, i.e. smog, etc. Great view but the layout of only a double deck is too old school.
mcmahon 04/26/2001
Pnc park is truely first class. The sky line it offers is speechless. When only 38,000 seats, every seat is great, with a true intimatcy of the game. Also, the clemente bridge and the river just behind the stadium offers an even better view. I've been in many different ballparks, but pnc park easily tops the list!
Sergeant1498 04/18/2001
I've been to Camden...Great place I've been to the Jake...Great place I've been to Cinergy...Sucks I've been to Shea...Sucks After going to one game at PNC it is the nicest place to play ball in America...The view is tremendous. Now if they cam only field a team worth watching...
maddog1498 04/18/2001
Fantastic view of the city. Simply spectacular!!
steve21 04/17/2001
I have attended 2 games so far and plan on going once a month for the entire season. PNC Park is truly remarkable. The site lines are great, you feel that you are close to the field no matter where you are at. I went to different parts of the ballpark and it seemed it didnt matter where you were the view was great. The skyline is breathtaking, the statues on the outside of Honus Wagner, Roberto Clemente and of course "Pops" Stargell add a great sense of history as do the banners outside of all time greats and the banners on the inner concourse of the greatest moments in Pirates history. Other positives include the seats are angled toward the infield in all areas, the restrooms had no lines and both games were sold out, you can stand and watch the game from the left field rotunda, above the right field scoreboard, the Clemente Bridge seems as if it is apart of the ballpark and the sleeveless uniforms help make the Pirates look great playing in their new crib. All in all PNC Park is a great baseball venue and should be seen in person to appreciate its amazing characteristics, however even watching a game on TV from this gem is a treat as well.
smockre 04/14/2001
Ohmigosh, what a place! Why didn't they do this in 1970? The walk across the bridge is one of the most stunning approaches you'll ever make to a sports venue, the backdrop is out of this world, and the only thing close to a bad seat is one behind the RF foul pole. The field is loaded with more quirks than Fenway and the seating is more intimate than Wrigley, if you can believe it.
Kendalls Girl 18 04/14/2001
Most beautiful ballpark in America!! Awesome the whole way around! Get out to this park and see it, it's a spectacular experience!! Go Bucs!
