Let me start by saying that this new feature is getting two stars from me not because I don't know why RIA would have added it, but rather because it has little value to me in relation to some of the other improvements. With that said, I have to admit that I rarely look at the RIA home page, as my saved bookmark is directly to my profile from where I navigate the site. Due to this preference, I rarely see the new reviewers section. New members will be noticed by me (as if they really care) by the number and quality of comments left by them, not by a flashy picture and detailed profile. Nevertheless, the feature does (I suppose) give some immediate satisfaction to a new member and some recognition from those who are inclined to pay attention to those sorts of things.

I just don't care about (1) who's reviewing and (2) who's new. . .I just care about opinions. . .

I think this is fine, but the problem is that many of the new reviewers get overlooked and get lost in the shuffle, while a select few (some who have yet to contribute their comments) get all the recognition. Something doesn't seem fair about this arrangement. Here's what I feel: I believe we should all work together to seek out the newbies so that as many of them can get recognized as possible. It's either that, or get rid of that feature altogether.

Another way to find reviewers that may have similar interests; how could you go wrong with that?

Yeah, I like finding new reviewers and being the first guy they talk to, but some never come back when I get to them first. I wonder why...

I really like this feature. I often go the the user pages and check it out. Its a great way for new members to get known.

A neat way to see some of the new faces that are joining the community.

This is a great idea because it gives new reviewers a change to establish themselves, rather then having to be bold and writing to strangers they dont know.

It's probably a good way of bringing attention to newer members whose reviews might have otherwise gone unnoticed. Not a bad addition.
