I sat at the finish line one year, and it was oddly moving. The highlight came when some older guy staggered across pushing his son in a wheel chair. People went nuts, and it was pretty damn emotional. My friend from Boston told me that this father / son team run it every year.

Not very interesting to watch, unless you have friends masochistsic enough to partake in it. If you do have to watch your friends, the best thing you can hope for is sunny weather, because aside from the prospect of getting a tan, there isn't much to enjoy. And like, sorry, but running 26 miles in one go just isn’t healthy. When the original guy did it back in 490 BC, he died afterward. That ain’t right.

Gets a three solely because I ran it. Otherwise, unless you run, it's about as exciting as watching steam rise from shit, except for the Rosie Ruiz disaster.Every noob hits the streets with a cup of water ready to pass to the runners. Sorry folks, most won't take it for one reason: they have no idea what crap you might have put in it, you sneaky devil you. That's why they have water stations along the route. If you drink, it's great. You'll forget just how fucking boring it really is. My suggestion, if you insist on abusing yourself, is to hit a bar on the route. Every 30 minutes, have someone wake you up, pin on your "I'm a Dork" button, head outside, scream "Keep On Going, You Can Make It!", head back into the bar, take off "I'm a Dork" button, puke, hit on some hag that wants no part of you, grab another drink, fall back asleep.Welcome to the 2010 Boston Marathon...

This was one of my favorite "holidays" as I like to say. Its such an event and gets people going. It is nothing like bay to breakers crazieness, but still a lot of partying....just with a little bit more "class". On top of the marathon, its also usually opening day at fenway (or close to opening day) so there's almost always a red sox game that afternoon as well. Its a great day "Marathon Monday" where boston explodes with energy!
