That is the rating from me but my DH swears by his. He likes to smoke and barbaque so he uses his all the time. Everything he grills, he test with the thermometer. I just go by smell and looks and if I have any doubt, I will cook down into it next to the bone. Guess who has served up raw to the bone meat? Not me. LOL

Helps me a lot, because cooking meat and poultry isn't my strong spot.
