They came into the draft looking for some much needed help for 2nd year QB Alex Smith, who had it rough last season. They were able to get it by recruiting Vernon Davis with their 1st draft pick. He has been impressive at TE and should be a good offensive weapon for the young quarterback. In fact, I think Davis will be one of the top rookies of this recruiting class. They also drafted Manny Lawson at OLB, thus addressing another major need for the team. They also picked a handful of wide receivers to shore up their offense some more. Overall, the 49ers still have a long way to go, but they should be more improved, especially on offense.

 | numbah16tdhaha (148) 05/02/2006 | Psst. The list maker might want to change the item name to 49ers. That being said, the 49ers did a good job getting guys around Alex Smith so he doesn't get his ass kicked as hard this year. They may be on the way up again.

Vernon Davis is one of the best bets to be a star in this draft, and will be a huge offensive weapon for the 'Niners. They also picked up 3 other receivers for the offense, while selecting 3 DEs and 2 safeties. They really looked to address areas where they have a need, which is the best way to handle a draft.
