Even if he only takes minimal carries he can go out of the slot too and make an instant impact as a returner. He has too much potential to pass on even if I have made hash of his short yardage ability being up in the air due to Lendale White taking those carries at USC. The risk in Reggie is that we do not yet know if he is durable enough to take the kind of beating these NFL boys will dish out. I also think the Saints could use some help in other departments but I do like where their offense is sitting.

 | abichara (60) 05/09/2006 | It was rather surprising to see Reggie Bush drop to New Orleans, with the second pick. Outside of Bush, many of their draft selections weren't all that notable. RB wasn't even their most pressing need, but a talent like Bush can't be ignored. Some of their problems were addressed in free agency earlier this year, but they are still somewhat far from being contenders, even with Reggie Bush and Drew Brees.

 | trebon1038 (62) 05/08/2006 | The saints got lucky by getting Bush but he is only one element of a team and he is a rookie. I think the Saints are doing a decent job of rebuilding though and will be contenders in a couple of years. I think 2007 is being a little optomistic.

Black & Gold Superbowl 2007

 | zuchinibut (36) 05/01/2006 | This whole draft for the Saints will come down to how good Reggie Bush is. This will be considered a great draft in a few years if Bush is as good as advertised. However, if he gets injured or doesn't wow the fans, then this draft will probably be considered a bust. Other than Bush, the other picks don't stand out. They do have 8 selections, so some of them could become impact players.

 | alpepper (21) 05/01/2006 | The Saints were burned by Rickey Williams. But I think Reggie Bush (with Drew Brees calling signals) will be an asset. Maybe not the 9 yard-per-carry guy at USC, but some one who could average 4.7 a carry and break a few long ones. Bush may be the player who saves the Saints from leaving New Orleans.
