07/23/2008 | In being as objective as possible, (I am from Knoxville and a UT alum), no other song in America gets a crowd so fired up. There are catchy songs, in fact, I have no objective against most of the songs on this list, and according to ESPN's College Football Encyclopedia (pg 838), it was first played at a UT game in 1972, so it is not as old as you would think it is, but when the band plays it as they march to the stadium, then when the team first comes on the field (for warmups, not the game), then during their pregame routine, it is one of those songs where no matter if you are a UT fan or not, you find yourself singing it. (One of my life goals is to see a Kentucky Derby in person, and you bet your behind when they play My Old Kentucky Home, I'll be right there singing it with them!)

11/18/2007 | One of the best college fight songs. Not only is it a catchy toon, but the lyrics are good enough that the crowd always sings along. I can think of no other college fight song that gets such a high level of crowd participation.

08/19/2005 | Im not even a huge fan of Tennessee but rocky top is by far the best fight song out of any college. My sister went there and it was played at her wedding reception-now thats a fight song!

03/15/2005 | I would be the bravest one to leave a comment with a terrible rating. The reason is that it is too much from the countryside. Though borrowed from the state song, it is quite repulsive as the department tweaks the original a lot! Now, you all should know that this is not the official fight song (fezzador is right), the official one is Down the Field according to an official website at UTennessee and it is much better. I always cover my ears when Rocky Top is played!

08/15/2004 | I used to have relatives who lived in Knoxville,TN so I got to hear this song quite a bit during visits. It's the catchiest fight song I've ever heard. It gets in my head sometimes and I find myself singing along:Good old Rocky Top/Rocky Top, Tennessee.

08/15/2004 | I'm not a huge UT fan, but perhaps Rocky Top means more to Volunteer fans than any other school song in the country. What's strange is that Rocky Top isn't the official fight song, it probably predates UT's football history.
