08/18/2004 | No, queers still have it pretty tough. What I find overrated to the point of offense is the whole Will and Grace / Queer Eye for the Straight Guy impression of homosexual men. They make gay men look like catty, vain, petty, materialistic nincompoops. This is offensive because it reduces queer culture to something palatable and quaint, harmless. Of course, it's not like every other conceivable lifestyle isn't trivialized in popular culture. Homosexuality is hardly overrated.
