Bear did more than win games and championships with average players. He molded men and created team play mentality.

Unquestionably, undeniably the greatest and most influential college football coach of all times....with whom all others are compared.

What I find so impressive about the Bear is the span of his legacy--24 years of consistent standards of excellence. Yes, the program had small dips during that time, but a losing season never became a fixed trend. Within a couple of years Bama was back contending for the National Championship. How many people in any profession can point to a career that was that solid, that quality, for 24 years running? A true legend if ever there was one.

This guy could kick someones ass with one hand. I dont think I want to make him upsett if I played for him. I dont know a entire lot about him besides his toughness and how his players loved him. But his name makes him the Babe Ruth of college football coaches!

One of the greatest coaches of all time. Although I was never a big fan, I still put him as #2 on my list

6 National Titles, and he didn't overstay his time. He was also able to re-invent his entire offense to change with the times. Can anyone say wishbone?

Reading books and articles, and watching documentaries about Paul "Bear" Bryant, I've come to admire him greatly. But for all the wins and championships he brought to the University of Alabama's football program, nothing about him stand out more for me than his response to a reporter during the 1970s when he was asked about his players. The reporter asked about his black players, and Bryant responded that he didn't have any black players. The reporter, possibly sensing he might have something on him (due to his reported racist tendencies at the time) then asked about his white players. Bryant then said he didn't have any white players. Perplexed, the reporter supposedly then asked what players he did have, and Bryant answered firmly, "I have FOOTBALL players!"

Having watch Coach Bryant at Alabama I would have to say without being biased he was the greatest coach college football will ever see. I am a Nebraska fan but his record speaks for itself. He was robbed by the AP Northern Writers Bias in 66. I was there when Alabama beat my Nebraska team 34 - 7. God rest his soul. He was the greatest. I even honor coach Bryant in my email my son help me with.

If all coaches blew like the Bear, then I would be getting blown all the time.
