You can only raise your eye brow so many times until it gets stupid. His humor is predictable and not very witty. There are much better comedians out there.

He should have gotten a Congressional Medal of Honor when he ripped into W Bush.

He is a brilliant guy but I don't think he does standup. Sitdown is more like it for Colbert.

Pretty much a genius. XD

This stuff is sophomoric or even juvenile. I suppose I am just out of it and don't get it. The squealing and squeaking audience gets me. The IQ of that august group must be about 75.

very good and getting better

Colbert is a great TV comedian, and the Colbert Report is perfect for his type of humor. However, I have never seen him do stand up, so I can't rate him as great or poor in this category.

Stephen Colbert needs to ease off the stimulants, or whatever it is he takes before he goes on air. God, he is so obnoxious.

This guy is a gem. He makes us laugh hard about the most serious things on his show. He made a farce of Bush right in his face, better than any other clown could ever do. He deserves a medal of honor or two.

I've never seen him do stand-up but there is no denying he is on a comedic roll as a political satirist.

How can you beat "truthiness"?

Very funny guy. Colbert uses deadpan humor very well, especially when skewering either the press, the president (the "decider") or other various sacred cows. He speaks truth to power in a very subversive way. Witness his recent performance at the White House Correspondents Dinner, where he really turned up the heat on the Washington establishment. Some of them found Colbert "disrespectful", primarily for pointing out that the media would rather go along to get along rather than report the facts. He turned up the heat on all of them: the groveling media, congressmen, pay-to-play lobbyists, overly ambitious congressional staffers, and money and attention-hungry media consultants--all of whom are addicted to the trappings of political power. Here's probably the most memorable part of his performance last week: " let's review the rules. Here's how it works: The president makes the decisions; he's the decider. The press secretary announces those decisions, and you people, the press, type those decisions down. Make, announce, check. Just put 'em through a spell check and go home. Get to know your family again. Make love to your wife. Write that novel you got kickin' around in your head. You know, the one about the intrepid Washington reporter with the courage to stand up to the administration? You know: fiction!" I wonder what the big "Decider" thought about Colbert's performance

It's been oh-so-trendy of the Washington Post (and other media outlets) to pooh-pooh Colbert's performance/speech that roasted Bush but there's one problem- his deadpan delivery and performance were hilarious no matter what the PC police wanted us to believe. . .Steve will read a story (any story) and give it that special mocking quality that keeps you grinning days later. . .

Colbert is pretty funny. He's obviously as sharp as they come, and his ability to stay deadpan no matter what's coming out of his mouth his impressive. And if you want to see some uncomfortable comedy, check out Colbert's roast of President Bush (and the media), with Bush sitting five feet from him: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-869183917758574879
