 | jaywilton (27) 05/12/2006 | Patton was an expert at what he did-but I wouldn't wanna hang out with him...Ganhdi was easily in the top 10 most overrated people of all-time...he believed Jews should've protested Hitler
by committing mass-suicide-and he retained that belief when the results of The Holocaust became known.

 | Drummond (58) 05/11/2006 | Ghandi would have the tougher argument to make, but then he made it throughout his adult life and was probably well prepared for any arguments about the necessity for military action. He had a positive faith about human nature and believed that even the Nazis could be fought and defeated non-violently (though "not without sacrifices").
I don't have the kind of faith in humanity nor ahimsa "truth force" that he had, but I admire his conviction. I don't know that Patton would have comprehended him, though he would have had plenty of factual ammunition to support his argument following World War II.
