Didn't buy the gas myths then; don't buy them now. Unfortunately, I still have to buy gas...and I so wanted to retire one day.

not just in the 70s. a common thing now. so at least they claim. anything to drive up the prices. crooks.!

They know that soon we will have cars that don't rely on oil and are more efficient; so any excuse will be used!!. These new cars will be less harming to our environment, so all they are doing is trying to make the biggest profit now!!!!! It's horrible I know, but at least we could be having brighter days ahead. I would love to pay $2.60, at the moment I pay $3-4 in Colorado. It hurts and I don't use the car as much, but that's a good thing as I get to walk everywhere and be healthy like the rest of the world!! LOL UPDATED11:55 am 05/11/2007

I was very young. . .but I learned that (after watching grown-ups reduced to participating in a Soviet-bread-Line) this nation was a whining bunch of bitches who had better learn fast that we need to wean off of oil lest our national interests be. . .wait a minute. . .haven't learned much, have we? Ya get what ya vote for thus ya get what ya deserve, kids. . .

Just remembered something. Oil companies are telling us that they're raising the price of gas because of, uh, er...oh yeah, a shortage of oil...yeah, that's the ticket! Well, dopes (which includes you and me), if that's the case, then...WHY AREN'T THERE ANY LINES AROUND THE BLOCK??? They lie to our faces, with impunity, why not try something different, something we cannot DO or aren't willing to do anything about: tell us the truth..."We want to make record profits because we now totally control the market, like Mafia, and will do whatever we want, so shadduppa you face and pump."

I don't know about the gas shortages, but I will tell you this: my car stays right in my driveway unless I really have to go somewhere due to very high gas prices.

We about died when gas neared a dollar a gallon! I also remember rationing. It was horrible and now the best gas price I can find is $2.60 and we are in the lower priced part of the country.
