Pearl Harbour 5

A thoroughgoing piece of crap. A few decent sequences during the attack do not make up for one of the worst war movies ever made. If you want a better movie on this event, try "Tora Tora Tora"

Pearl Harbour 1

The person in charge of research for this film should be shot. I mean the details of the attack and the aircraft were reasonably accurate but it was 1941...MEN DID NOT WALK AROUND WITH STUPID HALF-BEATLE HAIR CUTS AND SIDEBURNS (JOSH HARTNETT), ESPECIALLY MEN IN THE MILITARY. I wasn't around then but I know men were all about Vitalis and little pencil thin moustaches...there's only a million old war movies to reference!!!

Pearl Harbour 5

This movie is just horrible. I hate it when movie producers attempt to mix a love story around tragedies, especially war scenes. This movie tries to connect 3 unrelated attacks. As the other reviewer has said, Tora Tora Tora is a much better movie that shows Pearl Harbor from both sides. The acting was over done.

Pearl Harbour 5

Completely inaccurate, every character they tried to portray, Yamamoto, Kimmel, Doris Miller, Dolittle, Lieutenants Ken Taylor and George Welch etc. are all wrong. How can one man start by flying for the Eagles, end up at Pearl, and then fly on the Dolittle Raid, impossible. The film tries to connect too many events together, and in between that, there is a love story. What is wrong with this movie? The word 'everything' comes to mind. This movie doesn't claim to be based on actual events, but its backdrop was the attack on Pearl Harbour, and they should have at least got that one right but of course they didn't. Affleck goes to England to fight the German Luftwaffe in the Battle of Britain. I must admit that some of those Spitfire/Me109/He111 scenes are pretty cool. Yet, the first American in the Eagle Squadron to become an ace was Gus Daymond, who got his 5th kill after two years of service in the Eagles, during Operation Jubilee. Affleck does it before Dec. 7th, 1941 (obviously, right), stupid! Then we come to Lieutenants Ken Taylor and George Welch, the two pilots that were able to get in the air on Dec. 7th and combat the Japanese. Afleck and Hartnet are lousy based off these characters. Hartnet and Affleck are shown as two playboys, when Taylor and Welch were professional soldiers. So simple, they wouldn't have time to go get laid every night and lay on the beach during the day. There are too many things wrong with Gooding's portrayal of Doris Miller to even mention. Also, Affleck and Hartnet's characters play chicken with the Japanese aircraft. 5 Japanese aircraft collided resulting in a pyrotechnics dream. That is all that it was though, that also could have never happened as portrayed. Also, throughout the entire movie, the Japanese aircraft fly way to close to the ships. In some scenes, Japanese aircraft are actually flying in between ships at 10 feet in the air. In the movie, Roosevelt asks 'Is it true that men are still trapped inside the Arizona?' Well, there were still men trapped inside the Oklahoma, not the Arizona. The part when Japanese gunners tell the children playing baseball to get away. The truth is the Japanese aircraft flew where there were no people and no civilization. They flew were they wouldn't be detected. The two stars and people in their squadron at Pearl Harbour were flying the Doolittle Raid. In reality, the 70th Bombardment Group participated in the Doolittle Raid; it had nothing to do with fighter pilots! After the Doolittle raid commenced, the two main stars and their crew are battling Japanese soldiers. When the one pilot is running across the rice patty, he must have killed three or four Japanese! How can a bomber crew fight off an entire Japanese Platoon? That entire last sequence has flaws! How can pilots, with no training in ground warfare, defeat the well trained and experience Japanese troops in China? Tora, Tora, Tora! is 100 times the film this is. The director tries to connect three events, This movie makes no sense and is full or stupid errors. Only a moron would enjoy watching this film. Bad acting, bad love story, bad directing, some pretty good visuals (although most were, by military standards, wrong) and just a god awfully terrible movie, the title says it all.
