Enemy At the Gates 2

While the historical accuracy of the events in the movie may be subject to doubt (at least) it nonetheless shows a reasonably realistic view of the battle for Stalingrad. The portrayal of Khruschev is particularly good.

Enemy At the Gates 1

I loved this movie, and I thought Jude Law and Ed Harris were perfect for their roles. One of my favorite war movies

Enemy At the Gates 2

The movie had the same title as a very good William Craig book. But, the story was suppose to be based on a true story when this so called 'Sniper Duel' never took place. There is no recorded Waffen SS sniper with a rank of Major even sent to Stalingrad to combat Zeitzev. The character 'Konig' has never been mentioned in the German Heer/Waffen SS casualty list, and the Germans had a very good list keeping on their soldiers at that time in the war. And most of all, there is no mention of a Konig or a sniper duel in the Soviet Commissar Hall of Records. The duel never happened, the movie, which was suppose to be based on actual events, is fake. The movie and story is a big sham and it makes the movie much worse.
