 | StanUzbeck (14) 06/07/2006 | America has dropped bombs on well over fifty countries and has had a hand in nearly every violent revolution in the 20th century. Democracy has never, ever been a motivating factor in any of these crimes. So America is dangerous to foreigners, for sure. Also, the murder rate in the US is many times higher than any other industrialized country's, and is the most polluted nation in the western hemisphere, so America poses a danger to its own citizens as well. I guess everyone on earth is in danger from the United States.

 | Paul2505 (0) 08/07/2005 | The US could flatten most countries, and are too powerful to be affected by things like the UN. If they wanted to, they could certainly cause more damage than any other country. Fortunately, if you live in a country with similar ideals, you should be OK. If you aren't a friend of thiers, you should be worried. 4/5 because they're powerful, but aren't too crazy.

 | TB 303 (5) 06/28/2005 | I'll admit we have made some errors in judgement due to a system that is evolving at a slower rate than normal as of lately. At the same time Americans have saved the world from oppression and tyranny countless times overseas to help other people to live a peaceful life. As I see it everyone should quit holding grudges about the past and live for the day. As it is right now we as an entire world need to see each other as one large family. Until this day comes we just may never see peace.....ever. Any one rating the USA over 3 is probably a extreme liberal or not from this country. You should be happy as a crispy creme doughnut to be fortunate enough to live in a country that has morals and honor. The only reason I voted the USA as a 2 instead of one is we are dangerous because our government continues to be a two party system which gets us deeper and deeper into trouble and petty arguments. Also if you would invade us try. We wouldn't need a militia just send our rednecks and gang members to do the job. One more thing whom, other than American Indians, can say they are from America. We are a melting pot of people. The only country that has such a mix. So go complain about some other country.

 | Flick01 (71) 05/11/2005 | As of April 2005 there has been an average of 160,000 troops in the Iraqi theater. The firearm death ratio is 60 per 100,000. The firearm death in Washington DC is 80.6 per 100,000. That means you are more likely to be shot in our nation's capitol which has some of the strictest gun control laws in the country, than you are in Iraq. The only logical conclusion that one can reach is that we should immediately pull out of............... Washington DC!!

 | scarletfeather (47) 01/19/2005 | Our country is run by Machiavellians who believe it is better for us to be feared than loved. But what's gonna happen when the 90 lb nerds of the world team up against the titanic bully?

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 01/19/2005 | My rating here depends on who is the current president. During Carter's (single) term, the US was a great, big, slovenly, armed-to-the-teeth paper tiger, searching endlessly for excuses not to fight our enemy for our survival. During Reagan's two-terms, and George HW Bush's (single) term, the US was confident and frightening, especially after Ghaddaffi's mid-night pajama party, orchestrated by Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, and the 2 month Mother of All Battles conducted by the brilliant military strategist Saddam Hussein in the Gulf War. When Clinton was elected, enemies of the US knew that our newly elected leader would be much more open to diplomatic resolution to conflicts and his loathing for the US military would affect his judgement as Commander-in-Chief. Today, under GWB, we are a fierce warrior again who, for some reason, eschews the sort of overwhelming force (presently in Iraq) which proved so successful in the Gulf War and in Afghanistan. What do they have to do, fly airplanes into our buildings, massacring 3,000 innocent victims? I guess they haven't done that. The world is safer when the US is a respected warrior with a short temper, a hair trigger and a long memory.

 | stolypin (3) 11/15/2004 | Since 1900, the US foreign policy has been about one thing: ensuring that everyone gets along so that business can be conducted prosperously and peacefully. Free and capitalist nations are not a threat to their neighbor, no matter what delusional socialists say. Americans are a very peace-loving people as a whole. A peace platform is always a wining issue in elections (particularly since 1900) - and I believe that a peace platform was the winner in '04. Pulling out of Iraq would not ensure peace in the long term; but a viable, moderate, secure, and wealthy Iraq in the heart of the Middle East could possibly ensure peace in the region.

 | Daccory (15) 11/09/2004 | Not dangerous because of the weapons you have but because of your current thinking and attitudes. If all the other countries of the world decided the US was no longer a trusted friend then they would stop trading with you and all your military might would mean zilch! It doesn't really help any country to think they can take on the world. There is a very good position put forward in the book Declaration of Intradependence' by Will Hutton looking at how the US can work internationally and get the things it wants. (available at Borders) Lance : You are 100% correct and the world IS grateful...but this is 2004 and don't you see this is the USA you are losing by voting Bush?

 | LanceRoxas (40) 11/08/2004 | The United States has had a nuclear monopoly for years and never used it to advance imperialist gains. America has come to the aid of numerous countries throughout the world from Latin America to Southeast Asia. Through our economic might and military buildup we helped free all of Eastern Europe from the clutches of the Soviet Empire. We were turned to in WWI and WWII when we could easily have allowed Europe to fall into the grips of tyranny. Thousands of our brave men died on the shores of Normandy to help liberate France. Thousands died to protect the Korean peninsula from falling to communism. We liberated Kuwait. We've liberated Afghanistan. We've liberated Iraq. We're so dangerous that we liberate nations and pay for natural resources we could have assumed? We fight in nations and spill blood for no good reason but to help those being oppressed and we're the danger? Nations trade with the US because it's in the economic best interest and economic growth leads to individual prosperity. Yeah we're so dangerous that the first country nations come to for help in times of need is the bleeding heart red white and blue.

 | Anonymous (1) 10/27/2004 | Armed with nuclear weapons and with a reckless leader, the United States possibly poses the greatest threat to the world. South Koreans view America as a greater threat to their security than North Korea. The president blew a great opportunity to unite people around the world after 9/11. People in Iran were even demonstrating in favor of the United States! Now, however, the U.S. is the most hated and feared nation in the world. A unilateral foreign policy and an I'll invade you no matter what attitude definitely poses a threat to the world.

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 08/28/2004 | To respond to the claim that the world can take us, not on our turf. Get real. If we have trouble with Iraq, what in the blue hell is an invading force going to do with the expanse of our nation? The world couldn't even take and hold an inch of us because every gun toting redneck in America would take up arms and bleed any invaders until they tap out and run for their lives. That is why we are proud to be the most dangerous country out there.

 | Blanco~Nino (0) 08/26/2004 | Im not sure that all of us americans are exactly aware of the destruction that we are capable of. If our hearts so desired, we could easily take over the planet as our own. I don't think we can comprehend the frightening thoughts that other countries, especially those in the middle east, must have knowing that we are their enemy.
