Of course American Idol was fixed by Bush/Cheney, just like the 2000 and 2004 elections.

I was pointing out to co-workers in the lunchroom that they sounded really silly when they got so obsessive about this show, dissecting it the next morning and becoming so attached to a particular contestant. One of them however made the valid point that it is no different than listening to the obsessive sports fans around the office on Monday morning. The golf fanatics are the worst.

I am totally amazed by the millions who waste their time on this drivel. I watched a few minutes to see what all the hype was about, and I marvel at the tastes of the American people.

I'm kinda neutral and uncaring about this drivel, but it is funny to see people who suck, yet think they are talented get crushed by Simon in the early going. Still, I am opposed to the kind of crappy music this show promotes and have yet to spend a penny on any of the products of this thing.

I agree with Ih8rateitall that the show sucks but I don't see how that comes under the heading of "life sucks" since no one has to watch the damn thing. Easy enough to not have it be a part of your life if it bothers you. Works for me. I've seen (and heard) this year's winner, by the way. If that's the best the show has to offer I'd think about cancelling the program altogether.

I don't like this show. Some of the local bars actually had American Idol watch parties! Besides Kelly Clarkson, the other AI winners have been spares. The show gets worse every year, and the judges, Paula Abdul in particular, are very annoying. It's so cheesy and scripted too.
