Being female, I have to say I've taken advantage of the social norms of not having to ask anyone out. And though it might have sucked back then when I didn't get asked out by some of the guys I liked, I think I won out in the end with who I got.

Absolutely, and I just think girls especially like to torture men by dressing sexy, and get all upset when you even glance at them, what's that all about?

Rejection is always rough especially if you've had to work up all the mental courage you have just to even ask the question. Agree with other raters that you just have to move on. There are plenty of good people out there to meet. On the flipside, it's not always easy either to turn down people without worrying about hurting their feelings.

Only once did I ask a chick/dude out...and boy, when the hangover subsided was I ever glad he/she turned me down.

It might suck at the time, but move on. It's not the end of the world, and it's not like there aren't other dating opportunities out there.

Get over it FAST.At least you didn't waste a lot of time on them.

At least I find out that she's shallow and wont date guys that don't have a guitar and a motorcycle up front! (this really happened once)

I've always taken the coward's way out of that situation. I don't ask unless I'm reasonably sure I won't be turned down.

This probably has happened to everyone, except Tom Brady, Brad Pitt, or Jessica Simpson. It's happened to me before, but the key is to simply forget about it and find the next chick/dude that you are seeking.
