Another can't miss baroque museum, once private, to enjoy at leisure provided you get to it as it opens at nine a.m., before any crowds begin to gather. Outside, an ample park and garden with a man-made lake, smallish temples, statues and hundreds of trees, dating from the late 1700s. Classic marvels, within: in the early 1600s, Scipione Borghese had built the villa and initiated his collection of glorious sculptures, paintings and antiques that his descendants continued to acquire and display on two well assigned floors, eventually including Canova's 'Carolina Borghese as Venus'; Bernini's exquisite 'Apollo and Daphne'; Titian's 'Love Sacred and Love Profane' among dozens of other stunning pieces. One cannot regret this visit. Admission is moderate, considering, for a two-hour stay.
