I know that RIA management in general and Mag in particular are excited about the new tag features; however, I'm not sold on them yet (as expressed and implied in many of my related comments). I can see the advantages if the system works as envisioned (at least as I understand them), but the biggest problem I see is non-uniform and irrational tags. I can also reasonably anticipate members using marginal tags in an attempt to get more hits on their profiles, and this will ultimately make the system less functional; however, the downside for spamed profile tags is relatively benign as opposed to non-uniform and irrational tags on lists (for instance). I will admit that the profile tags are an improvement over the prior system of simply listing interests (that didn't link anywhere) on our profiles. The end result is four stars for profile/people tags as opposed to the three previously given for the other tag systems.

I'd rate it higher but it seems not many people are taking advantage of this feature. As a concept though, the idea is very interesting. I like the idea of being able to quickly find people who share my interests.

As time goes on, I think this page will be a great way to find folks that are interested in the same things you are. It only gets three stars for now, as not enough people are using the People Tags feature to make it meaningful.
