A song about teenage angst, years before the grunge groups frankly overdid the topic, and there really wasn't all that much thematically similar to the subject matter emerging during this period of singer songwriters like Melanie, MOR acts like Neil Diamond, bubblegum stuff like The Osmonds and The Carpenters, progressive rock groups like King Crimson and Yes, and the early metal/ hard rock of Zeppelin and Deep Purple, etc... aside from other Detroit area hard rock/ proto punk bands like the MC5, Stooges etc, and maybe some of the new glam rock bands, these sort of teenage fears and concerns just weren't really going on much lyrically. I'm not a very big fan of Cooper in general, but it was one of those songs that came out at the right time. Cool guitar, decent to good lyrics, a fitting sense of atmosphere, and I always dug the blast of church organ at the end.
