 | Twitchin' Monkey (14) 07/02/2007 | yeah, he's a know-it-all. but it seems to me he truly knows about most of what he speaks. I like that he gets in the faces of people that think they're too tough to tame. i think he's truly helped many people to turn their lives around. would i seek counseling from him? probably not. but oprah's pet or not, he seems to know his stuff to me.

 | oscargamblesfro (76) 05/16/2007 | An annoying fraud who specializes in the type of obvious advice that you don't exactly need to be to Confucius to understand. I think he got his degree by sending in $2.99 and 5 Trix box tops to General Mills cereals.Either that or in the back of a Fantastic 4 comic book, next page after the Sea Monkeys advertisement...

 | CastleBee (81) 07/03/2006 | Maybe I just watched too much daytime TV while recouping from my surgery this year but, I would be lying if I didn't say that my opinion of Dr. Phil shifted during that time. I actually tuned in to his show a few times and enough, I think, to say that he's really not the idiot I had orginally thought. His advice is sometimes a little simplistic but he does appear to be honest in his opinions and maintains respect for people in the process. He also doesn't try to solve the entire problem in the 10 or 15 minutes alloted to each situation. Rather, he will advise many to seek a counselor in their local area afterward and even offers to help them do so. Personally, I can't imagine why someone would want to air his/her dirty laundry on a national TV show but, if you were compelled to do so you could pick a much worse venue than Dr. Phil's show.

 | Sakanta (1) 06/16/2006 | Such negativity in many of these posts. Make the distinction between opinion based on nothing and opinion that stems from being informed or able to make an opinion (ie: training in the field, life experience). Peanut Gallery stuff. Ho Hum.
