 | callitdowntheline75 (53) 06/16/2006 | Geez, I now can't get this song out of my head! I live a few yards from the border between Stockton and Lodi (actually it is a road called Eight Mile which separate the two cities). I think the old Greyhound Bus depot is now an Amtrak Train station. Anyway, one of the legends surrounding Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Lodi' is that it is a recalling of John Fogerty's early days as a struggling musician, and that he and several musicians often played to small crowds in sparsely populated towns (one of them was Lodi). In particular, he reportedly played to an outside crowd in Lodi one night of less than ten people who were just there, and of whom told Fogerty and the other musicians to keep the noise level down; thereby, leading to the lyrics:
"I came into town a one one night stand...Looks like my plans fell through...Oh, Lord...Stuck in Lodi again..."
A great song, nevertheless!
