Not Gene's best, but still really good. His voice is unique, the trumpets are killer and the whole song tells a tale in less than 3 minutes. Perfect.

One of those story songs from the early 60's. He almost made it home to his love, but got snagged by another. He can 'never, never , never, go home again'.
