Brian was in the process of cleaning his life up when he died. He was planning on putting a band together and had been jamming with Lennon, Hendrix and other notable musicians. What I find tragic is that the Rolling Stones were formed and named by him. Initially, he was the leader. Charlie Watts said it stunk the way Oldham, Jagger, and Richards took control of the band from him and that's partially responsible for his decline in the late 60's.

The real tragedy was Brian's self-indulgent drug and alcohol abuse. Perhaps his murderer, (his builder) Frank Thorogood saved Brian from an embarrassing further decline and slow death?

Killed by Mick and Keith? I doubt it. The man was addicted to drugs and alcohol. It's not too hard to drown under the influence....you can drown when you're not even intoxicated. This was a tragic day in rock history. Brian could have gone on to so many other things if he would have straightened out.

Brian Jones was probably the most talented member of the Rolling Stones, yet was eclipsed by Mick Jagger once he joined the band. He was heavily involved in drugs, and its been assumed for decades that he died due to drug use, but news has come out in past few years that he may have been murdered. http://www.smh.com.au/news/Film/Stones-back-Brian-Jones-death-movie/2005/05/17/1116095944660.html

Here lies a very tortured and talented man.He was nearly out of his mind much of his last years, but he could have made a lot of really great music had he somehow survived and gotten off the heavy stuff.
