Sad, but I don't know as I'd call it tragic. Part of the "rock star" package often involves hard, self-destructive partying and dissipation. If the "rock star" in question is lucky, he (or she) lives through their excesses and goes on to become an elder "statesman" like Keith Richards or Iggy Pop. If they're not so lucky, they become Bon Scott (or a virtually endless number of others).

A big loss to a great band but his death was self induced. Then again, the likes of Bon Scott are probably never meant to be in for the long haul unlike grannies like Elton John.

He was a great frontman,no doubt-but you could see from a mile away that this man was on a crash course with the Grim Reaper.
