Let's see...an entrenched history of slavery, Jim Crow, lynchings, fundamentalist madmen, bigotry, creationism in the schools, brother-sister marriages, regressive politics, clown-like mush-mouthed politicians, swampy mosquito-infested climate, liver-shriveling moonshine, children who have a mother and a sister and they're the same person...jes caint wait tuh take a trip down thar in my motor-car, ya'll! EEEEAAAHHHAAAAHHHH!!!! The South's gonna rise agin! Count on it!

06/22/2006 | Oh gosh, someone made light of Watergate? AND backhanded Neil Young? How shameful. Anyway, not so much a conservative song (though I'm still wrestling with the term "conservative rock song") more of a southern red-neck anthem.

06/22/2006 | Great song that reflects mostly VanZandts resentment of Neil Youngs accusation that all southerners are racists.Watergate didn't bother HIM:"Does your CONSCIENCE bother YOU?"AS far as Skynyrd being ideologically "Conservative" or "Liberal",that's up to lots of debate.Check out the ANTI Handgun sensibilities of "Saturday Night Special".
