Plus, being an American conservative is quite different from being a British conservative. Ray Davies is certainly old fashioned, the song, which incidentally is outstanding, bemoans the horrors of the 20th century, the nagging annoyances of 20th century life and is anti- technology, and the song would qualify as a socially but not politically conservative track. That being said, the guy who came up with this particular choice may not know a hell of a lot about Ray Davies, and is advised to check out not only the lyrics of tracks like "Dead End Street" "Shangri-La," and several 80's songs that strongly denounced that viper Thatcher.
