 | EschewObfuscation (61) 06/23/2006 | Conservative theme, very pleasing song. I'd stop short of Drum's characterization, maybe because I'll be losing my Dad before much longer, but I think the message isn't so much that Dad's always right (ask my kids) but that the time to make peace, or apologize, or explain things . . . is now, during the living years. I can't count the number of friends and relatives who have died suddenly, and I'd give almost anything to be able to have just one more conversation with.
My Dad's older sister battled cancer for many years. The time came when she knew that this was it, she wasn't going to beat it this time. We all knew that if we were going to say good-bye to Ginny, the time was now. She was very matter-of-fact about it (at age 70) not tearful, not afraid. She mentioned 3 or 4 things she wanted to congratulate me for, had a few "suggestions" about how I might spend my time and energies more appropriately, and said good-bye. What I wouldn't give for that opportunity with several others, gone too quickly and too young.

 | Drummond (54) 06/23/2006 | I give it 2 stars because the band is somewhat conservative, but the reasoning for including this particular song is lame - namely that the lyrics describe a generational fight for which the son is repentent - the conservative message being that father always knows right.
